Best VCS Moment

Planning and executing an Encounter Week trip to China with students. Climbing on the Great Wall, staying in youth hostels and connecting with our sister school were all highlights. We rewrote our plans throughout the week as new adventures emerged–a trip with true student agency!

Brief Biography

Growing up near the Finger Lakes, south of Rochester, New York, I was homeschooled for my elementary school years with a project-based discovery oriented method that inspired my love of learning. My college admissions essay focused on why it appears contradictory to go into education after not attending school, yet I had given more thought to how people learn than most  teens. Prior to my time at Vermont Commons School, I worked at the Gailer and Bellwether Schools, as well as directed the math program at Pacem Learning Community, a center for homeschoolers in Montpelier. I have a sweet toddler who regularly reminds me of the sheer joy of learning new things!

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.

At Vermont Commons School, our goal is to engage students with their world. We achieve this through programs and a curriculum grounded in local and global involvement.
