Anne Dougherty, M.D.

Brief Biography

Anne Dougherty, M.D. (P ’27) is the Director for Gender Equity, director of the Global Women’s Health Program and an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. Anne earned degrees from Wesleyan University (B.A. Classical Civilizations) and Goddard College (M.A. Health Arts and Sciences). She completed medical school at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine and a residency in OBGYN at the University of Vermont Medical Center. When not in the operating room performing minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, the focus of her work is mentorship and advocacy, particularly around issues of gender equity, transgender health, and sexual and reproductive health. In 2019, Anne founded the Gender Equity Initiative at LCOM which seeks to increase the representation, advancement, and workplace satisfaction of women and gender minority community members through education, recognition of achievements, and advocacy.
