A Busy Fall at VCS!

Fall at Vermont Commons is always a busy time and this year has been no exception. Community gatherings, school events, and our new South Building have filled our days with excitement for being together, learning, and having fun. The energy that the students and faculty carry with them each day has been just wonderful! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Fall Encounter Weeks

  • Adirondack Canoeing
  • Drawing, Painting, and Creative Writing
  • Ecology at the OEC
  • Fall Harvest Feast
  • Northeast Kingdom Adventure – Mountain Biking, Hiking, & Swimming
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • 6th Grade Intro to EWeek
  • 9th Grade Bike, Hike, & Climb

Our New Gym

On September 27th, we opened our new space to the students. Morning Meeting was dedicated to a Green Gray scrimmage and our first opportunity to be together as a whole school in our new space. Since then, students have begun to fill the gym during lunch to practice their serves, listen to music, and generally blow off steam. A couple of the the additional spaces in the building are being used as quiet study areas for our high school students and on November 1st we will host our first ever home game.

Community Gatherings

Fall is often filled with many opportunities to reconnect as a community. We have held Back to School Night, grade level parent potlucks, Community Coffees, Open House, Grandparents & Grand Friends Day, Spirit Week, and the fun just keeps on coming! We hope you’ll join us for our next event!

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.

Students emerge from their time at Vermont Commons School intrinsically motivated to seek out their role for improving the world, with the skills and competencies to do so.
