Jason Ables

Brief Biography

Jason Ables is a software engineer who started his career building websites and creating animations for nonprofits like The Foundation for Global Community, The Art of Yoga and Children and Nature. He is a former board member of Shared Adventures, a nonprofit in Santa Cruz, CA, whose mission is to “offer opportunities for social and recreational interaction for disabled people.”

For the past decade he has worked as senior software engineer at CNET, CBS/Paramount and Red Ventures specializing in video infrastructure. A graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Journalism, his writing has appeared in The San Jose Mercury News, The Palo Alto Weekly, and Bike magazine. A former Teamster, he worked his way through college in the backshops of newspapers as a maintenance mechanic. The father of a 2029 VCS student, he is a sometimes-soccer coach, loves being on the water, trail running, cycling, motorcycles, just being in nature and casting a fly.
