Student Testimony

I find the classes at Vermont Commons more interesting because the teachers are extremely knowledgeable in their subject areas and are willing to go further in depth at the request of the class or individual students. I also don’t think that there is any other school that offers three trips a year as Vermont Commons does with encounter weeks. These have an impressive range, from backpacking and wilderness first aid to Model UN at University of Pennsylvania.

My favorite subjects are the physical sciences and history; sciences because they explain and provide the ability to analyze natural and artificial processes. I enjoy working out equations in physics because they govern the types of phenomena that we see every day. History explains how things have come to be the way that they are, and is inextricably linked to current events, especially in government and politics. It is also connected to, and in a way the foundation of law, which I am hoping to study.

This coming year I am looking forward to the various Model U.N conferences. For Encounter Weeks, I am excited to be a Student Leader on more trips.

I play baseball, ski – I am a junior instructor at Mad River Glen, ride horses, play the violin, and go on backpacking adventures. These have included 7 days in the Olympic National Park, 3 of which were off trail, and Katahdin in February.

Year at VCS

I am a senior and this is my fourth year at VCS.
