Returning to the Building

To our Vermont Commons Parents/Guardians,

Beginning Monday, March 29th, your children have the opportunity to return to the building for classes two days a week. In addition, we also have our Encounter Experiences on Wednesdays.

  • 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders can come to school Mondays and Tuesdays
    • 11th and 12th graders will be based in classrooms on the first floor and will enter and exit the building through the main lobby entrance
    • 9th and 10th graders will be based in classrooms on the second floor and will enter and exit the building through the door and stairway to the Commons on the northeast corner of the building near the basketball hoop.
    • Arrival time on Tuesdays is between 9:30 – 10:00 a.m., unless your child has made a special arrangement for a slightly earlier arrival due to a 9:30 a.m. meeting with a member of the Faculty.
  • 6th, 7th, and 8th graders can come to school Thursdays and Fridays.
    • 8th graders will be based in classrooms on the first floor and will enter and exit the building through the main lobby entrance.  8th graders will have a full day of classes and core group time on Fridays, ending at 3 p.m.
    • 6th and 7th graders will be based in classrooms on the second floor and will enter and exit the building through the door and stairway to the Commons on the northeast corner of the building near the basketball hoop.
On Monday, April 26th, your children have the opportunity to return to the building for classes four days a week.  We will continue to follow the same weekly academic schedule for course meeting days and times that they are doing right now.  Further details are still being worked out and will be forthcoming over the next month.

Throughout the rest of the year,
  • All COVID-safety guidelines remain in place–health screenings each day, 6-foot social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitizing of hands and surfaces, etc.  If the State of Vermont gives us different guidelines, we will adjust accordingly and let you know.  Our top goal is to get all the way through the school year without a single case of COVID in our student body, so let’s stay vigilant and work together to ensure we succeed!
  • Encounter Experiences will continue each Wednesday, with the exception of certain Wednesdays with special programming.  For example, this coming week, Wednesday, March 31st, students do not have Encounter Ex’s or classes, because it is Conferences Day for teachers and parents/guardians.
  • If you do not wish for your child to return to in-person classes in the building at this time, they will continue to be able to attend virtually via Zoom everyday through the end of this school year.
We look forward to seeing more and more of your children, and you!
