Hobbies and Interests
I am a huge lover of reading and writing and have filled almost 50 journals in the last 10 years. I also love going for long walks outside, spending time with friends and family, and doing scrapbook art.
Brief Bio
I was born the oldest of seven (yes, seven) children and spent my childhood on a 12 acre farm in Panton, Vermont where my siblings and I played freely in the sheep fields and the small woods near our double-wide trailer home. When I was ten, my family moved to Essex where most of my family lived until just this past year. My family members are currently scattered throughout Chittenden county, with one brother in Indiana.
I was homeschooled my entire elementary, middle and high school career and as a senior, I participated in Vermont’s dual enrollment program where I both continued to take some homeschool classes while also doing a full-time college workload. After my senior year, I took a gap year and traveled to England all on my own at 18. I spent a month there, visiting the birthplaces and homes of some of my favorite writers including Shakespeare and Jane Austen. I even got the opportunity to attend a rendition of Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theater in London.
Upon returning to the U.S. I started college at Lesley University in Cambridge Massachusetts. I studied English Literature and Secondary Education with the intention of teaching at a high school. I graduated right at the start of the pandemic in May 2020 and spent the summer searching for a job in a world that was basically shut down.
In September of 2020,I moved out of my family home to Burlington and began teaching at Centerpoint School. There I worked with at-risk youth and students with severe behavioral challenges and a wide range of learning differences. I worked there for 2 years and loved being able to watch the kids I worked with grow in their confidence and their skill level, not just academically but socially and emotionally as well. I left just before the school shut down in 2022. After that, I spent a year doing part time work as a housekeeper and working at an afterschool program in downton Burlington before finding VCS. While I am no longer teaching, I love being a part of a school community and supporting youth as they begin to figure themselves and the world out.
