Cross Country

The Vermont Commons School Flying Turtles cross-country team emphasizes fun, competition, and the healthy benefits of running. During afternoon practices, we run in the neighborhoods by the school, including on the bike path. Frequently, we take the bus to run on the trails at Red Rocks and at Shelburne Farms. We also compete in middle school and high school meets around the region.

All of our teams emphasize sportsmanship, commitment, excellence, and inclusion. We do not have “cuts,” but team members will be asked to maintain their commitment to the team and uphold the ideals of sportsmanship and fair play. Our team sports typically practice 5-10 hours per week outside of regular school hours.

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.

Students emerge from their time at Vermont Commons School intrinsically motivated to seek out their role for improving the world, with the skills and competencies to do so.
