0% Tuition Increase

Each year at their January meeting, the Board of Trustees sets tuition for the subsequent school year at Vermont Commons.  This painstaking process begins late in the fall, through careful review of the projected operational goals and needs of the school, tuitions at other comparable institutions in our local and regional market, internal long-term tuition projections, and the school’s overall financial position.  At Vermont Commons, we’ve spent the last decade watching every penny with the single goal of building up sufficient reserves to withstand whatever crises would face us.  To be fair, a crisis as severe as this pandemic wasn’t quite what we had in mind!  Nonetheless, thanks to our committed families, the numerous Board members who’ve served over those years, and our truly awesome, steadfast, tireless Business Manager, who’s shown her deep care for and commitment to this school by never letting a dollar be misspent or go missing, the school’s financial position is strong and secure.

The Board of Trustees voted–with my full support–to keep tuition completely flat for the 2021-22 school year.  No tuition increase.  0%.

We’re doing this because we have worked so hard to be able to when necessary, and that time is right now.  We’re doing this because we know many of you need it, and we must act.  We’re doing it because we want–however we can–to reduce the rate of long-term tuition increase to make Vermont Commons as affordable as possible for as many families as possible.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I’m thrilled to share this news with you.

Scholarship. Community. Global Responsibility.
