Brief Biography
I have happily called Vermont home for most of my life. I grew up in Waitsfield and moved to Lower Waterford, near Saint Johnsbury, to attend Saint Johnsbury Academy. After a brief stint at a large state university, I yearned for the close connections with teachers and intimate classroom environment that had fostered my love of learning. I transferred to Bennington College and voraciously studied a wide array of subjects, focusing mainly in photography, ceramics, and music history. I also dabbled in studying education, which piqued my interest in working in a school environment, and I continue to be drawn to the idea of further study.
For the past eleven summers I have worked at Camp Downer in Sharon, VT. I am the Program Head of the Nature and Aquatics programs. I also run the final stage of our Leadership Development Program, which aims to guide sophomore and junior-aged young men and women in identifying personal strengths and build leadership skills as they share in the responsibilities of the counselors. I am so grateful to be part of the VCS community and I couldn’t be happier that it allows me to continue working at Camp.
