Each year, tuition is set at a level that enables every student to enjoy the benefits of all our resources. The funding allows Vermont Commons School to retain high-quality educators, provide modern facilities, and maintain small class sizes; all of which make the VCS experience exceptional. The Comprehensive Fee is for the entire academic year and covers all normal parts of the school program; it includes the textbook and activity fees, athletic fees, lab fees, Research & Service Programs, clubs, field trips and Encounter Week programs. (Programs involving national or international travel, extra tutoring, or individually designed activities such as music lessons are not included in the Comprehensive Fee.)

Upon acceptance, an enrollment contract will be forwarded to parents or guardians of the applicant. We offer generous interest-free payment plans that help families spread out the cost of a VCS education within each academic year. Within 7 days of acceptance to the school, Vermont Commons requires the first tuition payment from newly admitted families to secure a space for the student.

Financial Aid

To apply online, go to http://sss.nais.org/.

It is our intent that the Vermont Commons student body be broadly representative of the community-at-large, and that our education be accessible to everyone who seeks admission. The Financial Aid Program is intended to help us accomplish this goal. Traditionally, the school has allocated up to 16.5% of the operating budget to financial aid. Approximately 30% of our students receive Financial Aid, with an average award of $9000. Families who anticipate requesting financial assistance should apply at the time they submit their admissions application. All financial aid families are required to complete the Parents Financial Statement through the School and Students Service for Financial Aid (SSS Program), and provide their 1040 tax form for the current year. Financial Aid awards will not exceed 80% of tuition. Families may apply online by going to http://sss.nais.org/. All information is kept strictly confidential and is limited to the Financial Aid Committee. Please note that the school makes its admissions and financial aid decisions independently of one another. All those who are interested in financial aid are encouraged to apply. Read more about our financial aid policies here.

Families who intend to apply for Financial Aid for the 2018-19 academic year are encouraged to apply by February 20th to be considered an on time applicant. Please contact our Business Manager, Linda Bursell at lbursell@vermontcommons.org with questions. The school will review requests for aid on a rolling basis, but the priority date to submit all paperwork is February 20, 2018. Vermont Commons does not review requests for financial assistance unless a student has been accepted to the school.
